Recommendation: For burns along the neck. For use when the towel roll is ineffective and/or when a more rigid device is necessary.

Purpose: To position the patients neck in neutral, with slight extension, thereby decreasing the risk of contracture.

How to Apply:

  1. Position the patients neck in neutral.
  2. Fasten brace under chin.
  3. Secure Velcro straps.

Recommended: Splint should be worn both pre and post grafting.

Wear Time: (STSG and Integra). Wear time is up to 20 hours per day as tolerated, with hour rests every three hours. (Rests are optional if patient can tolerate prolonged wear.) After cervical grafting the collar should be worn at all times for five days.

Cautions: Avoid use of pillows. Make certain that front portion of brace remains underneath the chin and does not ride onto the face and/or mouth. Check for redness, especially along the underside of the chin, the chest, the clavicle(s) and back of the head. If any of the above occur, discontinue use and contact O.T./P.T. NO PILLOWS.
